2021 Mercedes-AMG A 35: the secret is... everywhere

When a manufacturer comes out with a given model, it often has its strengths and some weaknesses. With the 2021 Mercedes-AMG A 35, you can look for flaws, but you won't find any. In fact, the secret of this model is everywhere, i.e. every single component is a success.

Let's go with a few examples to give you an idea.

First of all, let's go with the obvious, that is to say the lines of the model. There is no doubt that we are in the presence of a real Mercedes-Benz product, while the signature is unmistakable. The aggressive cut of the model, its distinctive face, its AMG decorations, everything here seduces the eye.

The impression is the same inside, while the environment exudes quality in terms of the rigor of the assembly, the choice of materials and the visual presentation. The latter is dominated by a multimedia screen whose clarity is a reference throughout the industry. In front of the driver, this screen displays the digital gauges and the amount of information the driver wants to see. At the level of the center console, the multimedia system menus are accessible, including the audio system, certain cabin settings and the multimedia system. Many of the vehicle's functions can be accessed via the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) system, a benchmark in human-machine interactivity.

Then, when you start the engine, you get a foretaste of what's to come. The roar is that of a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that offers no less than 302 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. This power is evenly distributed among the four-wheel drive units thanks to the work of a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission.

All this is enough to register a time of only 4.7 seconds at 0-100 km/h. But that straight-line power isn't all. In fact, it's only matched by the model's ability to negotiate tight corners. The precise steering, the balance of the masses, the power and distribution of the braking force, the work of the suspension (which works like a tightrope walker on a wire), everything impresses.

All in all, as you've just seen, faults are hard to find on this AMG A 35. If you're still in doubt, come and try it out; you'll fall under its spell.
