2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC: a wide range of engines

It is not uncommon for a manufacturer to offer different engine choices to its customers for a given model. However, in the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC, it's the difference between the engines offered that is rare. The three advanced powertrains are so distinct that you get three very different vehicles.

Let's take a look at the wide range of engines available for the 2021 GLC.

With the GLC 300 4MATIC, you get the entry-level version of Mercedes-Benz's popular SUV. It offers a rich level of equipment. It is designed for those who want a vehicle that delivers good performance and good fuel economy, and a smoother ride. The GLC 300 comes standard with the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system and a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. The latter offers 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque.

And what does that give you in terms of performance? It can go from 0-100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds. Not bad for an entry-level model!

For even more performance, the GLC 43 AMG 4MATIC adds some spice with a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine that pushes 385 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. This version takes the experience to another level, as it only takes 4.9 seconds to reach 100 km/h. Here, the GLC 300's 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission is replaced by AMG's SELECSHIFT automatic transmission, which features the same number of gears.

Then for the ultimate experience, there's the 63 S AMG 4MATIC. No compromises are possible. Here, Mercedes-Benz delivers a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with 503 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. These figures mean that you go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, a time usually reserved for high-performance cars. AMG's SELECTSHIFT transmission is also present with this version.

With its three engines of different displacement, it is three 2021 GLC that Mercedes-Benz offers. To determine which one best suits your personality, there's nothing better than a road test to find out.
