A few tips for choosing winter tires for your Mercedes-Benz

With winter fast approaching, now is the time to start thinking about winter tires. Anytime the weather outside drops below 7 degrees, you want to have proper tires on your vehicle in order to preserve its remarkable safety, comfort, and performance.

Do you need new winter tires?

Firstly, you need to check if you need winter tires. Check your current winter tires for signs of wear, and measure the tread depth to make sure it is still deep enough to properly evacuate water and snow. Experts agree tires should be replaced if the tread depth is less than 7/32th of an inch. Most tires have wear indicators, but if yours don’t you can simply use a quarter by inserting the caribou facing down in the groove. If you see the caribou’s snout, you have to replace your tires.

Even if your tires are still in good condition, you may need to replace them. If you moved, for example, out of the city and need tires that perform better in deep snow. Or, if you replaced your vehicle this summer.

Tire maintenance and care

Whether you buy new tires or use the ones you have, proper tire car is important to preserve their lifespan and ensure optimal performance and comfort.

  • Check tire pressure throughout winter
  • Balance and rotate the tires
  • Optimize your vehicle’s suspension geometry

We can do all of this for you at Mercedes-Benz Country Hills, and our experts will make sure your tires are properly installed to perform to their best.

Consider winter wheels

Lastly, you may want to consider adding winter wheels to your vehicle. This will help protect your more valuable summer wheels from damage, and will allow you to downsize your tires for even better performance.
