How the Next-Generation 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC is Different From the Current Model

The Mercedes-Benz GLC has always been at the top of the game in terms of performance, design and versatility. The redesigned 2023 GLC SUV was just revealed and it brings a few enhancements over the current 2022 GLC lineup. Here, we take a look at the key changes so that you can select the model year that is best for you.

Exterior changes on the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC

The front of the 2023 GLC has been redesigned with integrated headlamps that flow into the new radiator grille, which is highlighted by a chrome surround, a matte gray louvre, and chrome trim. Digital headlights are available as an option and provide better illumination and decrease brightness towards oncoming traffic.

The 2023 model has a bolder presence. It is 60mm longer with a slightly increased wheelbase over the 2022 model. The 2022 and the 2023 GLCs are both very aerodynamic. However, the 2023 model reduces the drag coefficient from 0.31 to 0.29, which is even better than some electric vehicles on the market today.

What are the powertrain differences between the 2022 GLC and the 2023 model?

The 2023 GLC is powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0L engine, just like the 2022 model. A new 48-volt mild hybrid system is standard for 2023. The 2022 and 2023 both produce 255 horsepower. However, but peak torque is increased from 273 lb-ft. to 295 lb-ft. A 48V mild hybrid system can provide an extra 148 lb-ft. while easing the burden on the combustion engine in certain situations for improved fuel economy.

Exploring many other changes for the 2023 GLC

The 2023 GLC receives a nice injection of new tech. DSR (Downhill Speed Regulation) controls vehicle speed when driving on steep, off-road terrain. It helps slow down the vehicle and protect it over tricky surfaces. An embedded camera in the front creates the Transparent Hood feature that displays what is directly in front and below your front wheels. The upgraded surround camera system allows for an improved 360-degree view.

Mercedes-Benz launches a new navigation system in 2023. It includes a towing function that guides you away from routes with obstacles that are too low for your trailer.

There are also significant interior changes for 2023. It is beautifully redesigned and features a 11.9-inch touchscreen in portrait mode and a 12.3-inch digital information screen. The standard cargo area increases from 550L to 600L.
