Mercedes-Benz EQE vs Mercedes-Benz EQS: How do both luxury electric sedans compare?

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz lineup is second-to-none when it comes to luxury electric vehicles. The EQE and EQS are two of the brand's top offerings, boasting the latest technology and advanced electric architectures that deliver generous range with quick charging capabilities. In addition, they provide an unparalleled level of luxury and refinement that you would expect from a Mercedes-Benz premium sedan, along with an impressive amount of interior space. The perfect combination of power and comfort, these premium electric sedans are designed to exceed expectations.

Here we take a look at how each model differs in terms of pricing, range, and performance.

What is the price of the Mercedes-Benz EQE and Mercedes-Benz EQS luxury electric sedans?

The EQE and EQS from Mercedes-Benz are premium luxury electric vehicles that actually compete in different segments. The EQS is the more luxurious, higher priced model with a starting price of $146,500. It's equivalent to the current S-Class in the traditional Mercedes-Benz lineup. Meanwhile, the EQE offers a more affordable option with an estimated starting price of around $75,000 making it roughly equivalent to the E-Class and S-Class in terms of pricing compared to the EQS. Additionally, there will be a performance AMG model available for those seeking even more power and sophistication at an estimated starting price of over $100,000.

Which is the more powerful of the two?

With two versions of the Mercedes-Benz EQE, drivers have their pick of luxury electric vehicles. The entry-level model provides 288 hp and 417 lb.-ft. of torque for a 0 to 100 km/h time of just over five seconds. Or for some serious power, the advanced Mercedes-AMG EQE offers dual high-performance electric motors that combine for 617 hp and 701 lb.-ft. of torque for an acceleration time of under four seconds to 100 km/h. The EQE AMG is the first electric vehicle from AMG, and the performance it will offer will be simply outstanding.

The EQS sedan is available in one version for now, offering two electric motors that combine for 516 hp and 631 lb.-ft. of torque. This incredible combination allows the large luxury sedan to go from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 4.3 seconds - making it an ideal choice for those looking for performance and luxury all in one package. It also means that you are not sacrificing performance in the name of space or overall luxury.

Which Mercedes-Benz luxury sedan offers the most range?

Drivers of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS and EQE will enjoy a powerful all-electric range thanks to their respective 107.8-kWh and 90.6-kWh batteries, enabling between 450 and nearly 550 km on a single charge depending on the model. Both sedans feature fast-charging capabilities of up to 200 kW for the EQS and 170 kW for the EQE, allowing them to recharge from 10% to 80% in less than 40 minutes and add 180 km of range in just 15 minutes in the case of the EQE.

The EQS offers the most range of the two models, however. It delivers an impressive 547 kilometres of all-electric range. Range has yet to be confirmed for the EQE sedan, but EPA estimates announce 490 km of range for the EQE while the AMG EQE will offer roughly the same.

Experience the ultimate luxury electric vehicle driving experience with the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE and EQS. The EQE is smaller in size compared to the EQS, but has a wheelbase that’s just 3.5 inches shorter making it strikingly versatile while the EQS delivers class-leading cargo capacity and rear space. Across both models you will find the MBUX HYPERSCREEN with three distinct displays inside as well as rear-wheel steering for enhanced low-speed maneuverability. With generous all-electric range, impressive charging times and innovative features, these two vehicles are sure to deliver an unforgettable experience.
