Mercedes-Benz further expands its Mercedes me Charging network

Mercedes-Benz is planning a full lineup of new electric vehicles in years to come, and the automaker also has plans to further expand its Mercedes me Charge network in the process.

The Mercedes me Charge network is an ecosystem of charging stations found across Canada and available to Mercedes EQ owners. The automaker is planning to expand the network by 3,300 stations in the near future, bringing the total number of charging stations on the Mercedes me Charge network to nearly 9,000 all over the country.

Furthermore, the Mercedes me Charge network will be adding 500 DC fast chargers, bringing the total number to 1,300. A DC fast charger allows a vehicle like the new Mercedes-Benz EQS fully electric sedan to charge to 80% in just 31 minutes. Moreover, Mercedes-Benz announced that Plug & Charge functionality will be added to the Mercedes me Charge network in 2022. That means that users can simply plug the vehicle in without further interaction with the charging network.

"Mercedes-Benz Canada is thrilled that drivers of our electric vehicles will be able to seamlessly charge on the Hydro-Québec network via the Mercedes me connect app and dashboard. This new integration with Electric Circuit will significantly increase Mercedes-EQ drivers’ access to EV charging stations across Québec and in Eastern Ontario, including a major boost to the number of DC fast charging stations in the Mercedes me Charge ecosystem. We expect Québec to be a truly important market for the exceptional Mercedes-EQ product lineup, and our customers in Québec and around the country can be excited about the clean, digitally-integrated, fast and convenient charging experience they will be able to enjoy. I want to thank all of our critical charging partners for making this happen and celebrate this moment of industry collaboration, “ said Eva Wiese, President and CEO, Mercedes-Benz Canada
