New 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC unveiled

Performance and luxury collide in the all-new 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC. Unveiled as an evolution of the redesigned Mercedes-Benz GLC 300, the new AMG GLC comes in two models: the AMG GLC 43 and the AMG GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE. These sport utility vehicles promise more power, more space, and an even more advanced suite of technological features.

Each model presents a unique blend of comfort, luxury, refinement, and sportiness. From remarkable acceleration to the thrilling sound of the exhaust, these SUVs promise an extraordinary driving experience. With the advanced technology and innovative features incorporated, buyers are assured a class-leading experience.

At the core of the new Mercedes-AMG GLC models is the AMG M139l 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. This cutting-edge engine combines innovative technology, high performance, and exceptional efficiency. It stands as the only production engine in the world to be turbocharged with an electric exhaust gas turbocharger.

The turbocharger's electrification significantly enhances the engine's response, right from idle speed. By allowing higher torque at low rpms, the electrification technology ensures quicker acceleration from a standstill, optimizing the vehicle's agility.

Two Impressive 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC Models

2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43: The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 showcases the impressive power of the 2.0-liter engine, which delivers an output of 416 hp at 6,750 rpm and 369 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm. The vehicle also features a second-generation RSG (belt-driven starter generator), acting as a mild hybrid system. This system provides a temporary power boost and ensures smoother transitions between the start/stop function and gliding function, significantly enhancing efficiency.

2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 E PERFORMANCE: Meanwhile, the GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE model takes power to the next level. The M139l engine churns out a world-leading 469 hp at 6,725 rpm. When combined with a permanently excited synchronous electric motor, a high-performance battery, and the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system, the performance hybrid establishes itself as a powerhouse on the road.

Both Mercedes-AMG GLC models feature the AMG SPEEDSHIFT® MCT 9G transmission. This transmission system employs a wet start-off clutch, which reduces weight and enhances response to accelerator pedal input. It also utilizes advanced software to ensure extremely short shift times and fast multiple downshifts when needed.

The transmission incorporates a double-declutching function in the "Sport" and "Sport+" drive programs for an even more expressive shifting experience. Additionally, the ECO start/stop function automatically engages in the "Comfort" drive program, and the "Glide" function can be activated in "Individual" mode.

AMG DYNAMICS integrated with AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive programs

AMG DYNAMIC SELECT is a notable feature in the new Mercedes-AMG GLC. This system offers a variety of driving modes tailored to different driving conditions. It also incorporates AMG DYNAMICS, which enhances the Electronic Stability Program's (ESP) functions, improving the vehicle's agility and steering response.

The efficiency of the interventions from AMG DYNAMICS depends on the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT program selected. Furthermore, the ESP can be adjusted in three stages - On, Sport, and Off, offering a personalized driving experience.

AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with Adaptive Damping System

The AMG GLC models are equipped with the AMG RIDE CONTROL steel spring suspension, integrated with an Adaptive Damping System. Specially developed steering knuckles and suspension joints are used on the front axle, while the rear axle features elasto-kinematics for dynamic handling.

The Adaptive Damping System continuously adjusts the damping at each wheel based on the current driving style and road conditions. Drivers have a choice of three damping maps - Comfort, Sport, and Sport+.

Active roll stabilization equipped standard on GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE

The GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE comes with a standard AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL active roll stabilization system. This innovative feature compensates body movements electromechanically, allowing for a more precise tuning of the steering and load cycle behavior. This reduces rolling movements when cornering and balances out one-sided road imperfections.

The system operates based on an additional 48-volt on-board subnetwork, delivering a faster response and lower weight compared to hydraulic-based systems.

Three-stage AMG speed-sensitive steering and standard rear-axle steering

All AMG GLC models come equipped with a three-stage AMG speed-sensitive steering system. This system features a variable steering geometry ratio that adapts to the selected drive program. The steering power assistance decreases at high speeds and increases at low speeds for more efficient control.

Additionally, active rear-axle steering comes as a standard feature. At speeds up to 62 mph, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels for more agile turn-in. Above 62 mph, the rear wheels turn parallel to the front wheels, improving maneuverability at high speeds.

The new 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC is a compelling showcase of advancement and innovation in the performance SUV segment. From its world-leading M139l 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine to its efficient turbocharged technology, the AMG GLC offers dynamic driving performance, responsive acceleration, and impressive torque.

Luxury and comfort are also part of the package. The 2024 AMG GLC provides its owners with a luxurious and comfortable driving environment, making it an incredible blend of comfort, luxury, refinement, and sportiness. With its impressive offerings, the Mercedes-AMG GLC stands as a testament to Mercedes' commitment to innovation and excellence in the world of performance SUVs.
