The New Mercedes-AMG SL Taking Shape

The Mercedes-AMG SL is all-new for 2022, and it is set to be the most stylish and technologically advanced to date. However, this unique luxury vehicle takes its roots from the original 300 SL Roadster and carrying the prestigious tradition. The details concerning the engine lineup are still in the works, but expect that this unique roadster will be powered by Mercedes’s finest in terms of powerful and efficient powertrains to provide optimal accelerations, but also give the driver a unique driving experience.
As for handling and dynamics, we know that the lightweight bodyshell of the upcoming SL will be built using a combination of aluminum, steel, magnesium, and fibre composites to ensure maximum rigidity and keep the weight down. For exceptional handling, this structure will have 18 percent more torsional stiffness than the outgoing model.
Technologies and comfort in the new Mercedes-AMG SL
Mercedes-Benz has published a few images of the SL’s new interior, and it already visually sets the standard in the segment. Designers and engineers have worked together to craft a driver-focused cabin using refined materials and textures – along with the turbine-style air vents and other signature Mercedes elements . Seat upholstery choices will include upscale leathers like diamond-stitched leather and a leather and microfibre combination with contrasting stitches.
A new “hyperanalog” instrument cluster provides the SL’s vitals using a 12.3-inch digital display integrated into a three-dimensional visor dash panel. A head-up display will be offered as an option as well.
The new 11.9-inch centre multimedia touchscreen dominates the dashboard. This element can be electrically adjusted in several positions for optimal driver and passenger viewing, and to reduce glare from sunlight when the roof is down.
